A foundation rooted in service, learning, and community
mupla is a Muslim community foundation rooted in education, compassionate service, and the quiet, daily work of building belonging. Qur’an circles, weekly iftars, and food pantries, all pointed at the people we share our days with.
Three pillars, one community
Everything we do is built on three commitments that guide how we serve, learn, and show up for one another.
Community
We create spaces, at the masjid, in homes, online, where people feel seen, heard, and welcomed. From weekly gatherings to annual iftars, we are the place where neighbors become family.
Education
We invest in lifelong learning. Qur'an circles, youth mentorship, parenting workshops, and adult classes, taught by community members, for community members.
Service
We show up. Zakat distribution, food pantries, refugee support, hospital visits, and disaster relief, service is the daily practice of our faith, not an occasional event.
Service is a daily practice
At mupla, service is not a campaign or a one-time event. It is the rhythm of the year: a food box on Saturday mornings, a Qur'an circle on a weeknight, a phone call to a refugee family settling into a new apartment.
When we say the work is rooted in faith, we mean this: every program began as a small group showing up for a specific neighbor, and grew because the trust it produced was real. We are not in a hurry to scale. We are in a hurry to be reliable.
Our impact
A glimpse at what the community has built together over the last year.
Neighbors served through programs and events
Active volunteers giving their time every week
Community programs running year-round
Six programs, one community
Every program is run by volunteers, free or sliding-scale, and open to anyone who walks in.
Qur'an & Arabic circles
Weekly study circles for all levels, beginners and advanced students. Childcare provided; sisters and brothers circles in parallel.
Zakat & Sadaqah distribution
Confidential assistance for families facing hardship. 100% of Zakat funds go directly to eligible recipients, with no operational deduction.
Youth mentorship
Adult mentors paired with youth, ages 11 to 18, for one-on-one check-ins, group outings, and a summer capstone program.
Food pantry & community fridge
A weekly food pantry for any family in the area, plus a 24/7 community fridge. No paperwork, no questions, no ID required.
Iftars, lectures & community events
Weekly community iftars during Ramadan, monthly family potlucks, seasonal celebrations, and a regular lecture series. Open to all.
Refugee & newcomer support
From airport pickups to housing help and school enrollment. We walk alongside newly arrived families for their first twelve months.
Stories from the community
Neighbors, volunteers, and families on what mupla means to them.
mupla was the first place that felt like home after we moved here. The iftar my first Ramadan, I didn't know a single person, and by the end of the night I had five phone numbers and an invitation to a Qur'an circle. That was four years ago.

Community member
I started volunteering to fill a Saturday and stayed because the work is real. Every Saturday morning, we pack grocery boxes for families in need, and I can see exactly who I'm helping.

Volunteer coordinator
As a parent, the youth program has been a gift. My kids have mentors now, adults in the community who know their names and check in on them. That's not nothing.
